Celero Xpress™ officially debuts at Assiniboine Credit Union

Celero, a proven solutions integrator, is proud to announce that the foundational suite of its Celero Xpress retail digital banking platform is now available and being tested by Assiniboine Credit Union in Manitoba.

The available suite, which includes both online and mobile capabilities, marks a major milestone in the development process to provide Canadian credit unions with the next generation capabilities for digital banking. Development of Celero Xpress began eight months ago, building on the award-winning ebankIT platform.

“This is an important milestone — not only for Celero — but for the future of digital transformation in Canada,” says Simon Vincent, Executive Vice President, Banking and Omnichannel Solutions at Celero.

New digital banking solution for Assiniboine
Assiniboine is the first prairie credit union to use Celero Xpress, which includes public website, online banking and mobile app capabilities. This version will be tested with credit union staff over the next few months as development on the platform continues.  Assiniboine will offer full retail and small business capabilities to its 126,000 members later this year.

“When we embarked on this journey for a new digital banking platform – we envisioned the type of member experience we wanted to deliver. Our members told us they want a digital banking experience that is simple, intuitive, can be personalized to represent who they are as individuals, and has enhanced security features. Today marks another milestone in that journey. With this base set of capabilities, we can continue to hone and shape the solution to get Celero Xpress ready to meet the needs of our members,” says Jennifer Mullen-Berube, Chief Brand & Innovation Officer at Assiniboine Credit Union.

Assiniboine is part of a founding group of credit unions that have selected Celero Xpress, including Access Credit Union, Steinbach Credit Union, Synergy Credit Union and Connect First Credit Union.

As Celero, Assiniboine, and the other founding credit unions pass this milestone, work continues towards having the full suite of retail and small business capabilities available later this year. As well, Celero has kicked off work with its clients to help them prepare their migration activities that will quickly follow the Celero Xpress general availability release.

About Assiniboine Credit Union

The story begins in 1943. The Second World War had a significant impact on economies across the world — Manitoba included. People were struggling to pay their bills, banks were ignoring their pleas, and in an attempt to stay afloat, many Manitobans fell victim to high interest rates charged by money lenders.

It was then that Ed McAffrey and eight co-workers from the Winnipeg Electric Company formed Assiniboine Credit Union — an open bond credit union that everyone in the community was welcomed to join. Money deposited by members was lent to other members in need, making banking fair and available.

Today, ACU is a full-service financial co-operative with over $4.9 billion in assets. They have 14 branch locations in Winnipeg, two northern branches in Thompson and Gillam, and employ over 450 Manitobans.

To serve their members better, they continue to evolve, innovate and grow while staying true to their roots. Money doing more isn’t just a line that appears along with their logo. It’s the guiding statement that represents the way they do business, and conveys their ongoing commitment to improving the lives of people, bettering the planet and creating prosperity for all. They have helped over 126,000 members achieve their dreams over the last 75 years, and would like to help you achieve yours.
